Description
This workshop will bring together researchers, attorneys and Intellectual Property managers from local academic institutes, law firms and industry, interested in protecting their IP and licensing activities. With the recent implementation of the “America Invents Act”, changes in the patent law and prosecution procedures will have a substantial effect on patent filing, patent prosecution, and technology licensing in the field of life sciences.
The potential impact on patent portfolio development in the coming years will be tremendous and it is essential to understand the entire IP process in the context of academic/industry collaborations. Local academic managers, lawyers and industry speakers will discuss the IP and licensing process with special emphasis on these collaborations.
Starting from the basics of IP, the workshop will build on topics covering the field of licensing, patent infringement, contracts, and agreements. There will be questions and answers after each talk to discuss each topic in depth.
