Math Modeling Tutorial Workshop

Monday, March 18 – Friday, March 22, 2013

UC San Diego

Host

San Diego Center for Systems Biology (SDCSB)

Organizer

Dr. Lev Tsimring, BioCircuits Institute, UC San Diego (BioCircuits Institute)

Description

The SDCSB Mathematical Modeling Core presents a series of hands-on tutorials on kinetic modeling of intracellular dynamical processes and gene regulation.

The topics covered by the tutorials will include:

1. Deterministic modeling: model derivation, simulation, and techniques

2. Bifurcation analysis of deterministic models

3. Stochastic modeling techniques

4. Model fitting and parameter sensitivity analysis

The format of the tutorials: 5 daily 2-hour sessions. The first hour of every session will be the theoretical overview of the material followed by an hour of guided hands-on exercises (participants will have to bring their own laptops!). This series of tutorials is intended for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers of affiliated SDCSB labs interested in learning computational modeling tools and their applications to biological problems. Limited to 25 participants.

When:

Monday, March 18 – Friday, March 22, 2013.  2:00pm – 4:00pm

Where:

UC San Diego, Natural Sciences Building
